What is The Connection all about?

Some things are hard to describe in a few words. Imagine describing pizza to someone who has never tasted it, or Star Wars to someone who has only seen black & white TV. The Connection is like that. It's a church but so much more. Below we'll try to explain what The Connection is all about.

The Connection is a Church

Some people might say that we are just another small church in a small community. In some ways, they would be right. For, like many other good churches in Maple Ridge, we love Jesus, hold worship services, teach the Bible and care for our city. So, if you are looking for a nice church to attend in Maple Ridge, there are several you could choose from. We’ll even provide you with a list! (List of Churches)

While The Connection is similar to some of the other good churches in Maple Ridge, it is also very different. We don't expect to appeal to everyone – but we want everyone to go to church … hence the above list – however, if you are a special kind of a person with a passion to make a difference in the world, if you are searching for a place where you’ll be needed, wanted and loved, if you don’t mind a challenge, if you are looking for a place that your kids will love attending as much as you do (or maybe even more), and if you want to see God do some amazing things – then, The Connection might be the church for you.

What is it that sets The Connection apart from other churches? Below we’ve listed a few for you. As you explore these, you’ll be able to tell whether The Connection is the church for you and your family.

The Connection is more than a church

As you examine The Connection more closely you’ll start to see that we’re not only more than an ordinary church, we’re more than any church. What we mean by that is that we do some things that churches, especially ones our size, would never dream of doing. Consider the following few points.

  • We have served the community in many ways

We have handed out hundred’s of bottles of ice cold water to thirsty travelers, painted entire houses for single moms, cleaned up after the fair when no one else would help, clean up city streets, and personally cared for over 1,000 families with acts of kindness... all for free.

  • We run a unique youth ministry

In the past 3 years, over 300 teens have come to our Friday night youth group. (More info and pictures.)

  • We offer a variety of low cost summer kids camps

Over the past 6 years more than 800 children have attended our various camps. (More info and pictures.)

  • We train others to make Christian films

We have run 10 media camps teaching more than 200 teenagers the basics of making movies. (More info and pictures.)

  • We even make movies to touch the world

We just finished our first feature length film. (More info and pictures.)

The Connection is an incredible dream

So we’ve seen how The Connection is a church, a unique church, and more than a church. But The Connection is more still. It is also a dream – a grand vision – that goes beyond anything we have yet seen.

The dream is to build an unprecedented movement centered on Jesus Christ that will unify families in Maple Ridge, transform Metro Vancouver and touch the entire world in our lifetime. This is nothing less than planetary change, or as Jesus said, God’s Kingdom coming on the earth.
